Tèxtils.CAT member RUTEX announced the successful completion of WoolWalls, a sustainable innovation project funded by In Transit – DEVELOP (2nd Call) that transforms low-value Ripollesa wool from Catalonia into high-performance interior wall panels. The market-ready solution delivers acoustic comfort, flame retardancy, air-purifying photocatalysis and refined aesthetics—with full digital traceability from farm to finished panel.
This is the circular economy at work. WoolWalls turns a low-value rural by-product into a premium material for hotels, hospitals, offices, and cultural spaces
Local Ripollesa wool was collected and prepared, spun into yarns, and converted into woven and nonwoven layers. A digital product trace—reinforced by physical markers—was embedded across the value chain. Multilayer panels were laminated with a peel-and-stick system for rapid installation, then validated through accredited testing.
