The green transition of the advanced textile materials sector in Catalonia is one of the strategic priorities of Tèxtils.CAT.

In the last 8 years, the cluster has led 6 projects, two of which are European, aimed at promoting the substitution of hazardous chemicals in textile finishing processes, eco-design, and industrial symbiosis, among others.

During these years, the results of the projects have been disseminated at various international forums to also promote the best practices of the cluster’s member companies, and several webinars and working sessions have been organized with the partners.

On the other hand, the cluster supports its members in their initiatives to promote the circular economy: 4 companies have completed their projects co-financed by the Waste Agency of Catalonia with the support of Tèxtils.CAT.

Thanks to the experience gained over these 8 years, six new projects presented under the 2021 Circular Economy Promotion call from the Waste Agency have been approved.

Two of these projects are directly coordinated by Tèxtils.CAT in collaboration with various stakeholders to develop sector-specific guides and communication activities aimed at implementing sustainable measures focused on the circular economy:

TEXSOSPACK: a study to promote the implementation of sustainable packaging in the advanced textile materials sector, in collaboration with the Packaging Cluster and the LEITAT Technology Center.

CIRCULAR.Tèxtils.cat: The Circular Marketplace of advanced textile materials in Catalonia, in collaboration with FITEX, Elisava, and Intexter.

The other four projects are led by member companies of the cluster: Hilaturas Arnau, LIASA, Polisilk, and C.P. Aluart, with the aim of analyzing individual improvement actions in the sustainability and circularity of their products and services. The AEI Tèxtils will collaborate on various tasks within the framework of these four projects.

Once again, the cluster positions itself as a catalyst for promoting initiatives that contribute to the sustainability of the sector and demonstrates its potential to contribute to circularity and the fight against climate change.
